The iconic monobloc chair evokes mixed reactions, both praised and criticized. As one of the most mass-produced and affordable chairs in the world, it is everywhere, adaptable, and yet often fragile. Broken legs are common, and these discarded parts usually mark the end of the chair’s short life.
In the project “Colour Blocks,” these broken legs find a new beginning. Reimagined with playful, brightly colored children’s blocks in primary hues, they become alternative legs, small constructions of balance and imagination. Stacked like miniature buildings or improvised towers, they transform what was once broken into something joyful, curious, and full of life.
Each Colour Blocks sculpture is a one-of-a-kind variation within a limited edition of 50 + 3 AP.
